SLIS 5711 is a 10-week online course addressing the history, structure and uses of computer networks, particularly the Internet and the World Wide Web. This course will include readings and discussion, hands-on use of Internet applications, as well as guest lectures via Wimba.

Lectures can be viewed live or asynchronously. We will also explore current issues affecting networked communications such as net neutrality, security, and user-generated content. If you would like to gain a clear and practical understanding of how the Internet works, this is the course for you.  Textbook: Douglas E.
