Consider Taking SLIS 5841 Digital Curation Fundamentals

It's never too early to start thinking about the Fall 2014 semester!
  • How can we organize files and folders on our computer or network?
  • Will JPEG 2000 be the next archiving format for digital images?
  • What is preservation metadata and why should we record preservation metadata?
  • Does the cloud provide reliable, long-term storage of data?
  • Do best practices of data backups exist?
  • What is checksum and when do we need to do checksum?
If you would like to answer to the above questions, consider taking SLIS 5841 Digital Curation Fundamentals.

The course is offered 100% online. The course focus is on conceptual understanding and practical application for digital curation using case studies, hands-on exercises, and quizzes.

Note that this course is part of the Graduate Academic Certificate (GAC) in Digital Curation and Data Management (http://lis.unt.edu/digital-curation-and-data-management). You can take this class alone or as part of your GAC in Digital Curation and Data Management.
