The College and University Libraries Division (CULD) of TLA is offering an academic scholarship award of $500 to assist one library school student with the costs of attending graduate school in pursuit of a Master’s- or Ph.D.-level library or information science degree. The purpose of the scholarship is to encourage student membership in TLA and CULD, and support students intending to become academic librarians. Deadline for submission has been extended to Monday, February 10, 2014.
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
· Applicants must reside in Texas and attend an ALA-accredited library education program in pursuit of a library or information science degree. Full-time and part-time student applicants are welcome.
· Applicants must be current, paid members of TLA and CULD. To apply for a student membership, please follow this link: http://www.txla.org/join
- Applicants must demonstrate commitment to academic librarianship, and have a vision for their future.
- Applicants must possess good written communication skills.
In addition to meeting these criteria, the successful applicant agrees to serve on the CULD Scholarship Committee for the following year. Attendance at Annual Assembly and Annual Conference are encouraged, but not required.
