WANTED! Pop-Up Library Early Literacy
Specialist (20 hours per week)

customer inquiries. In addition, you must enjoy interacting directly with
people of all ages from diverse backgrounds and be adept at understanding the
needs of the library customers and with connecting them with the right
resources and/or the right person to assist them; You must be comfortable
with computers, tablets, e-readers, etc. and emerging technologies; be able to
assist library customers with their basic computer needs; share
responsibilities for all library customer service functions, and contribute to
building a positive team spirit. As a team member you will be "on
the move" in our libraries: You will stand, walk, crouch, stoop, squat,
twist, climb, and may have to push/pull up to 50 pounds, and lift up to 20
pounds.

The
successful candidates will assist the Special Services Team Leader in
day-to-day operational aspects of the Pop-Up Library grant by:
·
Applying an energetic, enthusiastic and tech savvy approach
to all aspect of service and youth program delivery;
·
Having a good working knowledge base in electronic devices
such as e-readers and tablets, and other technologies;
·
Displaying a general knowledge of youth literature and
resources; and
·
Enjoying working with youth and create quality experiences
for them and their families.
·
Conducting programs, events, and ongoing activities for children and
families in communities across the city.
·
Requires evenings and weekends (Saturday & Sunday). Willing to work outdoors, if
needed.
·
Working cooperatively with others on project and contributing to
building a positive team spirit.
·
Performing miscellaneous tasks as assigned.
·
This is an IMLS grant funded
position from May to August, 2013 (16 weeks).
Valid
Driver's License preferred.
Some
college in the area of Education, Early Childhood Education, or closely related
field is preferred.
Two
(2) years of experience in working with youth in an educational setting is
preferred.

You
will be part of launching a new and exciting program by:
·
Coordinating and monitoring functions and activities for the Pop-Up Library program.
·
Responsible for site visits,
preparation and verification of daily, weekly and special reports and assisting
with general scheduling.
·
May assist with conducting programs, events, and ongoing activities for
children and families.
·
Serves as liaison to schools and other community organizations to
promote the library requiring a high level of tact and cooperation.
·
Working cooperatively with others on project and contributing to
building a positive team spirit.
·
Must be willing and able to work a rotating shift to include evenings
and weekends. Willing to work outdoors, if needed. Performs miscellaneous tasks as assigned.
·
This is an IMLS grant funded
position from April 2013 to October 2014.
Valid
Driver's License preferred.
Associate’s
degree in Business Administration, Management, or closely related field is
preferred.
Two
(2) years of experience in coordinating and managing community/educational
programs and activities are preferred.
