United Way of the Texas Gulf Coast is an official Foundation Center site for the Foundation Collection, an online searchable database and comprehensive set of directories designed to help nonprofit organizations research funding opportunities.  This collection is a key component of the United Way’s Nonprofit Resource Library. This library is intended for use by area nonprofit staff and volunteers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

·     Provide professional assistance to nonprofit clients using the resource library.

·     Offer guidance in use of Foundation Collection database.

·     Introduce clients to available library resources

·     Become familiar with existing materials in library.

·     Recommend and review new acquisitions

·     Promote library resources to potential users.

SKILLS REQUIRED

Candidate will be expected to:

·     interact with diverse library clients and United Way staff;

·     help clients conduct information searches via library and Foundation Collection databases;

·     introduce clients to books, periodicals and other available resources.

The position requires basic computer skills.  Training will be provided on use of Foundation Collection and other library software. 

SCHEDULE

Candidate will work 25 hours per week.  Work hours are flexible within the time frame of regular business hours from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.  The library is housed in the United Way Community Resource Center, adjacent to United Way headquarters.  Free covered parking is provided.
