In recognition of this historic year, the UNT LIS Houston Program and LISSA are jointly sponsoring a field trip to the Barbara Jordan Collection and archives of the Robert James Terry Library at Texas Southern University.
Join us as we visit the papers of one of Texas' extraordinary political leaders. Barbara Jordan (1936-1996) was the first African American woman to serve in the Texas State Senate; she was the first African American U.S. Representative from Texas and the first African American to deliver a keynote speech at the Democratic National Convention.
